3 Biblical Affirmation Scriptures All Believers Should Memorize

The moment we believe on Christ Jesus and accept him as Lord and Savior over our lives, the spiritual warfare begins. Our sworn enemy the devil, comes to kill, steal and destroy.

He doesn’t fight fair. In fact, his main objective is for us to spend eternity with him in the lake of fire outside the presence of God.

We saw him at work in the garden of Eden at the beginning of time and throughout scripture, tempting and tormenting God’s people.

His favorite scheme is to mess with our minds resulting in us questioning what God has clearly stated about us in his word.

He did it with Eve in the garden when he asked her the question “is it true” what God has said, and tried the same thing with Christ after He came out of the wilderness, having fasted for forty days and forty nights.

Our Lord showed us the blueprint on how to effectively resist the wiles of the Devil by quoting scriptures.

In other words, proclaim boldly what God has ordained to be true about you in the scriptures.

To that end, we will look at three powerful scriptures Christians should memorize so that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit that lives in us will lift up a standard against him so that he will have to flee.

Remember, faith comes by hearing the spoken (Rhema) word of God. Hearing someone speak the word is helpful, but hearing ourselves speak it is more effective.

As we both speak and hear, both edges of the sword of God’s Word are at work in us simultaneously. (Hebrews 4:12)

THE THREE SCRIPTURES ARE

  1. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Psalm 118:17

Recently two of my close cousins have been diagnosed with breast cancer, one in the early stage and the other in an advanced stage.

One is saved, and the other is not. I prayed with them on a conference call every Sunday night and told them to commit this verse to memory and recite it each night before going to sleep.

I am using this as an opportunity to lead the unsaved to Christ, and I am trusting God that He will save her. Of course, this does not mean “I will never die” but only “I will not die before God’s appointed time.

Remember, the Devil comes to KILL, STEAL and DESTROY. As such, sometimes, he will try to plant suicidal thoughts in our minds and have us questioning God. This is our way of letting him know that God has the final say and not him. So I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

  1. I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14

This is another scripture that all believers should commit to memory. Again when the enemy tries to feed us his lies that we are worthless, unattractive, and unloveable, we can replace his lies with God’s truth and realize this is how God sees us. As the Apostle reminds us in Romans 8, NOTHING can separate us from God’s love.

  1. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7

Anytime fear or timidity gets a grip on us, we are to remember that it’s not of God, this verse clearly states, but rather concentrate on the powerful resources God has given to us in Christ Jesus. One of which is the Agape Love which focuses on pleasing God and seeking the welfare of others before our own.

Additionally, the Holy Spirit enables the believer to have the mind of Christ (a sound mind) to think about things that are pure, lovely, of good report, and things that are righteous.
